It is important you feel comfortable with a therapist and that you can open up to explore even the most painful subjects therefore we first meet for an initial consultation. In the consultation we will explore what brings you to therapy at this time and it will give you a sense of what it would be like for us to work together. It is also an opportunity for me to gather information such as contact details and history.
The initial consultation is different from a regular on-going therapy session in a number of ways such as I may take notes or ask more direct questions. It is longer than a regular session, roughly 60-90mins.
On-going therapy sessions last 50 minutes and are usually the same time and day every week. This helps build a framework and support for therapy.
If on occasion you can not make the regular weekly session and I have advance notice of this I will try to offer you an alternative session during that week.
Missed sessions will be charged as per standard psychotherapy practice as your weekly 'hour' is reserved exclusively for you. You will not be charged for sessions when I am away and I will endeavour to give you as much notice as possible.
